Borrowing Privileges

Currently enrolled students and current faculty and staff can check out most circulating materials for standard loan periods using an active Wildcard.

You may also view your account to review your loans, requests, or renew materials online.

Loan Periods

Always refer to your account for exact due dates for individual items or to request a renewal.

  • Books: Most books circulate for a minimum of 16 weeks.
  • Reserve Material: Reserve items are available for two-hour periods and must remain in the library.
  • Anatomical Models and other equipment: Models and most equipment are intended for short-term, in-library use only. Contact us with any questions or to arrange use of models in instruction sessions outside the library.

Overdue, Lost or Damaged Items

Many fines and fees can be resolved by returning the item(s). For questions, please contact us.

  • Overdue Fines: Galter Library does not charge daily fines on most regular circulating items. Exceptions where daily fines will accrue are Course Reserve Materials and technology and equipment such as chargers.
  • Lost or Damaged Item Fees: Items that are severely overdue are marked as lost. Lost books or seriously damaged books will result in a one-time replacement charge.
  • Account Blocks: Borrowing privileges may be blocked for accounts with more than $100 in fines or lost fees, very overdue Interlibrary Loan items or overdue recalled items.
